Hi my name is Casey , I have been working at Great Western Animal Hospital since late 2016. Previously to working here, I was a senior nurse and dog trainer at Epping Veterinary Clinic and worked as an emergency nurse at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital. In between Epping and Great Western Animal Hospitals I travelled all around Australia for a year, working with different people and animals which was an amazing experience.
My passions in nursing are critical care nursing and surgery. Additionally to nursing I have obtained a Dog Training Qualification and am undergoing further study with a Puppy Preschool Instructors Course and a Fear Free Certification. I run the Puppy Preschool Courses along side my wonderful collegue Jodie Pignone at Great Western and also in the Hills District. In addition to Puppy Preschool I conduct Adolescent Dog Training Classes , Private In Home consultations and Pre Puppy Consultations. I am in the works of developing an event called Before The Paw to educate and assist new puppy parents before purchasing a puppy – to help people make more educated decisions on matching breeds to lifestyle and how to source a properly raised puppy from an ethical breeder.
I love coming to work each day and working with the amazing team at Great Western Animal Hospital, where the patient care is gold standard and everyone has a huge heart. We all share the common goal of wanting to help every animal we look after and ensure they stay healthy and happy.
When I’m not working at the clinic I am training and competing my Arabian horses or adventuring with my own dogs Sharlea the Kelpie and Poppi my rescue mystery breed!
